Workshops and presentations

School Workshops

I offer school workshops for groups of teachers, or students. We explore, and I lead discussions about, a wide range of topics such as nutrition, self-esteem, self-awareness, kindness and compassion, connection, global citizenship, study skills, how we learn, emotions and feelings, courage and fear, self-care, understanding our parents and many more.

One of my favourite discussion based workshops with groups of trainee teachers has been 'Classroom management: forging positive relationships with our students.'

Delivering workshops to exam groups in Switzerland and Spain on how to feed our brain which explores the nutritional relationship between the brain, the gut and our food was a real priviledge. I love working with young people in this way, exploring and sharing information and hearing what they too have to say on these important topics.

Community Workshops

I also offer community workshops, tailored for specific groups of people. I'm currently working on a 'Morning of Expressive Writing for Anxiety' event where participants learn about the differences between stress, anxiety and depression, and why feeling anxious sometimes, is normal. Together, we explore ways in which to manage and support our mental health, in particular through expressive writing which research shows can significantly improve anxiety and depressive symptoms.

My next project will be a community event for parents and carers, 'How Children Learn' which explores how children and adolescents learn and how best to support them as learners at home. The aim is to strengthen our children's approach to studying and learning whilst developing our own skills as parents: How do we, as parents, firmly, fairly and kindly nurture and support our children in their academic progess, and through their academic experience? What measures can we take and approaches can we employ to avoid conflict and stress in the home, and ensure our child feels as little worry as possible when it comes to education?

Several parents have asked me to run a workshop 'How Adults Learn.' This is a future project that I hope to offer for anyone in the community with an interest in cognitive function and skills.

School asssemblies

I offer bespoke assemblies for schools. The focus of my assemblies is often based on improving physical or mental well-being, as well as building community.

We look at the facts and up-to-date research on the particular topic to explore themes such as self-esteem, self-awareness, kindness and compassion, connection, global citizenship, study skills, emotions and feelings, courage and fear, self-care, understanding our parents and many more.

One of my favourite talks to date has been 'Self-talk and the way we speak to others: the power of words and why words matter.' This is a subject I feel passionately about and often offer positive affirmation guidance to students and teachers, in fact, to anyone who asks and would like a boost in this area.
